Injectable treatment at Shoreline Aesthetics
About Injectables at Shoreline

The most studied tools in aesthetic medicine, applied with restraint.

Injectables are the workhorse of modern aesthetic medicine — decades of clinical research, billions of treatments, and a track record that's earned its reputation. But the tools are only ever as good as the hand using them.

At Shoreline, every injectable treatment is performed personally by Whitney Buckland, PA-C, our lead aesthetic injector serving Charleston, Avondale, West Ashley, Mount Pleasant, and James Island. No rotating providers, no rushed appointments, no formulaic dosing. Every plan is calibrated to your face, your goals, and the result you actually want when you look in the mirror — which is almost never the most product, most units, most volume. It's the right amount, in the right places, by someone who's done it thousands of times.

Why Shoreline for Injectables

Trained where it matters. Refined by experience.

Whitney's approach to injectables is built on a simple discipline: do less than you think, and do it precisely. The market is full of providers chasing trends, dosing aggressively, and producing results that look obviously injected. That's not the work happening here.

Every treatment is informed by years of clinical training as a Physician Assistant, ongoing continuing education with the leading injectable brands, and an obsessive focus on what natural results actually look like — rested, refreshed, like you've been on vacation for a week, not like you've been to a clinic.

Our Injectables

Three tools. One philosophy.

Neurotoxin

FDA-approved injectable that smooths fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause them. Whitney's most-requested service.

Used for patients looking to soften wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions — forehead lines, frown lines, and crow's feet are the most common requests. A non-surgical option for those wanting subtle, natural rejuvenation. Whitney will recommend the right formulation for your face, your history, and your goals at consultation. A lip flip is also available — a few precise units along the upper lip for a subtly fuller, more relaxed smile without filler.

Botox® Xeomin Dysport Lip Flip

Three FDA-approved formulations available. Whitney charges Botox and Xeomin at the same per-unit rate. Dysport is dosed differently and charged per Dysport unit (per-treatment cost is comparable).

Results
3–4 months. Dysport tends to show fastest (2–3 days). Maintenance keeps results consistent.
Downtime
Little to none. Slight redness fades within an hour.

Pre & Post Care
Before
  • Avoid blood thinners (NSAIDs, aspirin, fish oils) for 3–5 days. Tylenol is fine.
  • Avoid alcohol for a few days to reduce bruising.
  • Pause retinol for 2 days.
After
  • Don't lie down for the first few hours.
  • Avoid pressure, rubbing, or massage on treated areas for a few days.
  • No vigorous exercise for 24 hours.
  • No saunas, steam rooms, or hot yoga.
  • No alcohol for 24 hours.
  • Reintroduce retinol after 2 days.
  • Normal facial expressions are fine and may help results show sooner.

Dermal Filler

Hyaluronic acid-based injectable that adds volume, smooths lines, and contours the face. Used to enhance lips, cheeks, jawline, and undereye areas.

Filler is injected beneath the skin's surface to replenish lost volume and support facial structure. Hyaluronic acid binds water in the skin for a hydrated, plumped effect — and stimulates collagen production over time. Results should look like you, just rested and supported.

Results
6 months – 2 years, depending on filler and area.
Downtime
Minor swelling 1–2 days. Bruising may persist longer.

PRP Platelet-Rich Plasma

Uses your own blood to stimulate collagen and natural skin regeneration. Ideal for skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, and as a microneedling enhancement.

A small blood sample is drawn and processed to concentrate platelets. The resulting PRP is then injected into target areas (or applied topically with microneedling), triggering the body's natural healing response. Particularly suited to those wanting to improve texture, reduce fine lines, address hair thinning, or enhance microneedling results.

Results
Up to 3 sessions may be needed. Texture improvements over several months.
Downtime
Mild swelling, redness, bruising for several days.

Pre & Post Care
Before
  • If you develop fever, cold, flu, or inflammation, reschedule.
  • Treat no sooner than 3–4 weeks before any special event.
  • Disclose any cold sore history so we can be proactive.
  • Discontinue anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs, steroids) 3 days to 1 week before — we want the inflammation, that's the mechanism.
  • If on steroids within 2 weeks, we cannot treat you.
  • Discontinue blood-thinning supplements (Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Gingko, garlic, flax, cod liver oil) 3–7 days before.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin, spicy foods, and cigarettes for 3 days before.
After
  • Don't touch, press, rub, or manipulate treated areas for at least 8 hours.
  • Bruising, redness, soreness, and swelling are normal for up to 10 days.
  • Avoid NSAIDs and steroidal anti-inflammatories — we need the inflammation.
  • Tylenol for discomfort.
  • No lotions, creams, or makeup for at least 6 hours.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, sun, and heat for 48 hours; SPF 30+ once outside.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, cigarettes for 48 hours before and after.
  • Drink at least 64 oz of water on treatment day.

Begin Your Plan

Two ways to start.

If you're new to injectables — or to Shoreline — start with a consultation. If you know what you want, book the service directly.

Common Questions

Before your first treatment

That's what your consultation is for. Whitney works with three FDA-approved formulations — Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport — and selects based on your face, your history, your goals, and how your muscles respond. Most clients don't need to choose; she'll recommend what's best for you. There's no premium for one brand over another at Shoreline. If you've called another clinic and were told one is "premium" and another is "budget," that pricing model isn't how we work here.
Not at Shoreline. The whole approach here is calibrated dosing — the right amount in the right places. The goal is that no one knows you've had anything done; they just notice you look rested. If you've seen overdone work elsewhere and worry, we encourage starting conservative and adding more later if needed. We can always do more; we can't undo too much.
Neurotoxins (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport) typically begin showing within 3–7 days, with full results around two weeks. Dysport tends to show fastest. Dermal filler shows immediately, though some swelling settles over 1–2 weeks. PRP is gradual — texture changes appear over several months, often after multiple sessions.
Then start with a consultation. We'll walk through your skin, your history, what you want to address, and what natural results actually look like for your face. There's no pressure to book treatment the same day — many of our best long-term patients took a few weeks to think it over before starting. If you do want to begin, Whitney typically recommends a conservative starting dose with the option to add more two weeks later once we see how your muscles respond.
Neurotoxins have essentially no downtime — possible mild redness for an hour. Dermal filler may have minor swelling for 1–2 days and possibly some bruising. PRP has the most social downtime; plan it 3–4 weeks before any major event. Detailed pre & post care for each treatment is available in the service sections above.
