BOTOX® Cosmetic

What is Botox Cosmetic?

Botox Cosmetic is a widely used and FDA-approved neurotoxin derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is utilized for aesthetic purposes to address facial wrinkles and lines.

What it Does

Botox Cosmetic temporarily reduces muscle activity in targeted areas, smoothing out wrinkles and preventing the formation of new lines. It is particularly effective for treating dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions.

How it Works

Botox works by blocking signals from nerves to muscles, limiting their ability to contract. This relaxation of the muscles contributes to a softer and more youthful appearance.

Who it is For

Botox Cosmetic is suitable for individuals looking to diminish the appearance of facial wrinkles, including crow's feet, forehead lines, and frown lines between the eyebrows. It is commonly sought by those seeking a non-surgical solution for facial rejuvenation.

Duration of Results

Results typically last for about three to four months, after which a follow-up treatment may be recommended to maintain the desired effects.

Common areas for treatment:

  • Forehead wrinkles

  • Frown lines

  • Crow’s feet

  • Bunny lines

  • Lip lines

  • Marionette lines

  • Chin dimpling

For 3-5 days before treatment, avoid blood thinners like NSAIDs (including Advil, aspirin, and Aleve) and fish oils. Any blood thinning medication can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after your Botox treatment. If you need to take an over-the-counter pain reliever, take Tylenol instead.

Avoid alcohol for a few days before your Botox injection to lower your risk of bruising.

Pause your retinol regimen for two days before Botox.
